Popcat (POPCAT) is a Meme coin inspired by the viral meme of a domestic short-haired cat named Oatmeal, known for its humorous "pop" motion of opening and closing its mouth. The meme, which gained traction in October 2020, became widely popular after being used in Instagram music videos, where Oatmeal appeared to be singing. The popularity of the meme eventually led to the creation of the POPCAT meme coin on the Solana blockchain, driven by community engagement rather than intrinsic value.
